Episode 7: The Debt Collector (Can’t Pay We’ll Take it Away)

Seeing as 7 is a number of perfection and completion,  I decided to go back to our Reedemer and his finished works on the cross this episode. Let’s marvel at all He did for us.

Have any of you ever been in debt? It can be anything from borrowing £5 million pounds from the bank (financial) to owing your friend a free meal the next time you guys head out (moral). For the purpose of today a debt, simply put, is something you owe.

Now when it comes to God we are morally bankrupt which effectively means we’re incapable of paying him back for all the sins we’ve each committed.

Last week or so, I was watching “Can’t Pay We’ll Take it Away” which is basically a show about people who have failed to make repayments and therefore end up in bad debt…so law enforcement have to go to their houses and confiscate any item that equal the value of their debt. So for example, they could lose their cars, TVs, playstion, DVDs or even be forced to vacate the house. This would all be legal and unfortunately the indivual would not be able to contest whether it seemed fair or not as they had a debt to pay.

Although some stories can be quite heart wrenching, a majority of them always make me laugh as people often feel they can outsmart the “legal system”. It really made me think about how many of us think we’re outsmarting God by constantly living in sin and doing what suits our selfish needs. Just because we haven’t been asked to pay up yet doesn’t mean we’re not bankrupt.  He’s always there and we’ll always never quite be good enough BUT we don’t have do what has already been done for us thanks to JESUS.

At the end of the day, if God came to ask you to pay your debt off with your belongings, even if you’re the richest person in the world you would still fall short.

“For all have sinned and all fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23)

So how then how would we pay off this debt?  By dying. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) YIKESSSSSSSS.  so what then does it really mean to say Jesus died for your sins?
He paid for all of our moral debts when he died on the cross. Whether 50 denarii or 500 denarii neither no body can pay off their sin (Luke 7:41-42), Jesus came to cancel both small and larges debts of sin. It was perfected on Calvary (Deutronomy 15:1).

So “having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.” (Colossians 2:14)

Incredible right? We did absolutely nothing to deserve it . Grace comes from the Greek word “Charis” and it’s raw translation is unmerited favour. We are unworthy of our  citizenship in Heaven but God gave Jesus Christ as our visa.

Don’t get “banged up abroad” folks . I’ve heard the heat if you don’t make Heaven is unparalleled 😭😭😭😭😭.

Do you really know what you’re saying when you say by the Grace of God? Do you know why we praise him through every circumstance? Because we’re ASSURED of eternity.  Something no other faith or person away from Christ can boast of…

In understanding that you can really begin to understand His love for us, His chosen people. And why we have brothers and sisters from across the world. Heaven has no ‘type’, other than a Christ proclaiming believer.

Here’s how and why Jesus did it :

He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups. (Ephesians 2:15).

He ENDED the commandments need to be followed to enter Heaven (it’s not fully abolished)because he knew we couldn’t do it.  Oh death where is your sting?! Unfortunately just because we’re going to Heaven doesn’t mean we shouldn’t a morally upright life (for more on this check out Episode 2: License to Kill).

This is why we need to forgive like Christ forgave us (Matthew 18:23-35). Anytime the devil tries to remind Jesus of our wrong doings He replies with :
But if he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge it to my account.(Philemon 1:18)

You see the more you owed God, the more likely you are to love Him for his infinite mercies (Luke 7:41-43). I surely had more that tatttty billion for my account o! And  it needed clearing and Jesus always says  ” I’ll clear all that debt for free”.

And He does this for each of us!!!

Do you know where you’re going when you die? Are you sure your debts have been paid for IN FULL (tetelestial)? I gave all of mine to the debt collector…

Love always,

Belloz
