Episode 14: Forever Young

Sometimes I feel immense pressure to make sure that I get the message of Grace across in the way that truly captures its beauty and the peace of mind it brings. It can get overwhelming to say the least..

I earnestly asked God why He would chose lil old me and the Holy Spirit was quick to send me a helpful little reminder

“At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.”

Matthew 11:25″

Ahh the joys of being But a “little child”. Instantly I pictured my adorable nephew and it all made perfect sense.

This is not a Kodak image but infact my adorable nephew 😍😍😍

You see when we seek God’s face we must try to do it like an adventurous infant whom tries to stand for the very first time. My nephew rises to stand, unaware of any sharp objects that may be in his way, unbalanced/hard surfaces or whether it’s slippery nature may cause him to stumble. He has no past history of bruises, no recollection of pain or failure or loss and even if he does, he chooses to ignore it because he is determined to stand. All he is focused on is standing because crawling has become too monotonous!

He wants change and he won’t stop till he gets it. This mindset is what counted Abraham righteous, I’ll prove it.

How aware are you of the sharp falls in your life? The bruises and cuts you gained from the different times you had to pick yourself up after a hard fall? Until you finally put your foot down and proclaim that you’re tired of crawling, your life will remain stagnant. Brothers and Sisters when you’re tired of crawling, you will gain that fire inside you and you will not stop till you stand!

You systematically have to unlearn the “wisdom” you use to survive in this world to elevate in heavenly places. Effectively wisdom teaches you to be careful and remember your mistakes which is why people find it hard to believe that faith in what Christ did ALONE on the cross takes away your condemnation. It can’t make sense to a wise man that knows falling has consequences but..

Truly the Bible says God blots away your sins (Isaiah 43:25) so don’t be fooled by the “wise” (1 Corinthians 3:18) that constantly want you to remember your falls (wrongdoings) that Christ has already wiped out. Christ wiped it clean so everytime we stand up we can stay up because we wouldn’t have to think about the past falls we’ve had, instead we can again be like “little children” as it teaches you to be bold, courageous adventurous and full of spirit (Joshua 1:9). All things the Bible tells us is manifested by the Holy Spirit in us!! Things that cannot come to pass if you hold on to the falls (mistakes) you made along the way.

This brings us to the story of dearest Abraham! The father of many nations (Genesis 17:5). When God asked him to sacrifice his beloved Isaac whom he had waited for almost a century for,do you not think Abraham was worried? Do you not think He remembered all his bruises i.e. banishing his only other son coupled with his inability to have a child with Sarah for so long. What if that was the end? What if God truly took away the son he cherished sooo much?!

But when Isaac asked Abraham where they were off to he replied “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” (Genesis 22:8) WOW. What child like trust! He CHOSE not to remember the risk of losing what he’d worked so hard for, his whole legacy could’ve been destroyed in that moment but instead he remembered the will of God in his life and knew God could not forsake him. He had not yet seen the lamb and yet he spoke. Although he could’ve slipped in that moment and began to crawl again, he chose to stand and believe he would stay up. A “wise” person would’ve told him he was crazy!

That is why God counted Abraham as righteous (Genesis 15:6). That action counted him right with God, he acted on his faith and that’s why the Bible says faith without works is dead (James 2:17). He had to put his hope in God into a verbal action to prove his faith was in God alone.

In that same way Abraham was made right with God by speaking in faith, we have to trust that “God will provide the lamb” in place of all the mistakes we make. We have to rely on Jesus and make a verbal act of faith just like Abraham, also making us right with God and taking us to heaven. The works James speaks of is the verbal action because “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21)

Which is why all Abraham had to do was speak to gain eternal life, if He is our lineage why would we have to do any different?

So he acted and spoke life and ate of the tree if everlasting life, the very tree Adam rejected by eating from the knowledge of both good and evil! You see by knowing evil or bad times it stripped Adam of that childlike innocence that then caused him to feel the need to hide in the presence of God (Genesis 3:8).

Stop! JUST STOP. Stop using your human experiences and the ways of the world to judge God, it’ll make you hide from God too. The “wisdom” that has helped you survive many misfortunes might be the very thing stopping you from tapping into the showers of blessings God is eager for you to recieve.

We have to be but little children, like my nephew happy to take a risk with the unknown and trust what the the word says about whom he, our Heavenly Father truly is. (The word is alive and active, so why are we so quick to kill it by not acting in faith?) The innocence that came along with childhood is unmatched.

Riddle me this, Are you really wise to remember your mistakes or are you setting yourself up to be doomed? I encourage you to speak life and stand on the the finished works of Jesus Christ..you will never crawl again!!!!!!

Love Always,
