Happy New Year beautiful people!! I really hope you guys haven’t missed me too much.. I’ve really been thinking of you guys and all the exciting things that comes with being God’s glorious child in 2018. Firstly, yours truly will be releasing the first episode of my YouTube series
and a couple more exciting treats for my Instagram family (@thegoodnewseries) Soo…do stay tuned! ❤️
Drawing in on the theme from Episode 14 about how human beings are so attached to fixating on their past and regrets, I think what’s most important to carry into this year is the “moving forward” type mindset.
“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. (John 15:11)”
This scripture really resonates with me..when I think of fullness funnily enough I think of when I eat myself into drunkenness.
Don’t judge me! We’ve all been there..that unforgettable feeling of “UGH, I’m so full”. When I think about that level of fullness, I understand that to be the kind of joy God envisions for me, I ask myself where am I going wrong?
How FULL of happiness am I, if the joy of Christ is mine to behold? Not only do I deserve that overflowing type of joy, it’s mine to receive in Christ no matter the circumstance!
I have to learn to move forward, regardless of what I feel I did to get to this point of standstill or even if I just have an overwhelming obstacle in front of me, it all begins with my effort to focus on progression. I choose progress over perfection any day…
God has already promised us that our Spirit will be strengthened with power when we bow my knees before Him (Ephesians 3:14,16) So, we have complete joy and strength from above! Let’s use 2018 to be empowered by the truth, that heavenly Grace we neglect because of what we see in front of us. 2018 : let’s be empowered by the knowledge of Christ because He truly only has plans to elevate us (Jeremiah 29:11)..the question is..are we listening…
This draws us to the original SaltBae! Although, right now it’s probably a compliment to have such a nickname..I’m pretty sure Lot’s wife would beg to differ(Genesis 19:26).
I’m sure most of us have heard the story of Sodom and Gomorrah that is told in Genesis 18 & 19. To summarize the inhabitants of the city were way over their heads. They were wayward, disobedient and unruly to say the least! So much so that the angels that were sent to destroy the city were sought after by the citizens because they wanted to sleep with them (Genesis 19:5)
Like I said waaaay over their heads sigh..
This story really isn’t about their obscene ways, but more about Lots wife, the original SaltBae! You see..God in all His mercy saved one whole family from utter destruction when the angels went to destroy the city of Sodom and Gomorrah and that was Lot’s family. They had been told to flee from the city and into the mountains and lastly the angels said “DONT LOOK BACK” (Genesis 19:17).
Firstly, it should be noted that both of Lots son in laws were warned and told to flee but thought it was a joke. 2018: Let’s take heed of what we hear! There is such a thing as Grace by association what if God is using someone else to bless your life?
First YouTube episode coming soon 🙇🏽♂️
Shamlessly promoting my channel but that okay because…
So fastforward, there’s sulphur, there’s fire.. it’s just hot and heavy in that city and Lot’s wife decides to have a little peek back at the city being destroyed, against her better judgement and ends up becoming a pillar of salt. #SaltBae
Was she anxious to move out of her place of comfort to the unknown?
Was she interested to see what happened if she went against the word of God?
Did she have an enemy she was leaving behind and wanted to see how that person was suffering like
The bottom line is that, in order to have stepped into the new season of her life SaltBae needed to have focused on the journey that was ahead of her. God elevated her from the plains and into the heights of mountains but she couldn’t let go of what was or was too stubborn to heed the warnings.
It’s important this year that we leave what has happened behind us and focus on all the great things God is trying to do in us and with us. To be full of salt or to be full of joy? The choice as always is yours..
